CHAQFS
Warning people earlier when heat and polluted air arrive together.

What we're doing
We're developing an early warning service that looks at extreme heat and air pollution as one problem rather than two. Hot weather can make air quality worse, and breathing polluted air in the heat puts extra strain on the body. Warnings that treat them separately can miss that.

Why it matters
The people most affected are often those already at greater risk, including children, older people and anyone with a lung or heart condition. Earlier, clearer warnings give councils, health services and communities more time to act.
